Record model

The record-description model processes OCR and other recognition results into a useful browsing and organization description. A small, fast chat model is usually sufficient. The primary model is used when none is selected.

Display

Choose list, compact, or card view and sort by newest, oldest, or type. These settings affect the current device interface only and do not delete or rewrite record content.

Default destination

Save new records to the current tag, last-used tag, or a fixed tag. After capture, stay in place, highlight the new record, or open its details. Mobile text capture can still choose a different destination in the save drawer.

Changing the default only affects future records and does not move existing ones.

Web clipper

Desktop NoteGen can run the local web-clipper service and open the browser-extension installer. The extension sends selected text, images, or the current page through a local port without a NoteGen cloud relay. See Use the web clipper for the workflow and limits.

Record toolbar

The toolbar can contain text, recording, scan, image, link, file, and todo actions. Show, hide, and reorder them separately for desktop and mobile.

The desktop tray quick-capture menu follows the enabled items and their order. Hiding an action does not delete saved records.
